Abstract

Muhammadiyah sebagai gerakan dakwah Islam amar makruf nahi mungkar dan tajdid yang bersumber kepada Al-Quran dan Sunnah1 dan bersemboyan “kembali kepada Al-Quran dan Sunnah”, dengan sendirinya perlu dan dituntut untuk dapat memberikan pemahaman Al-Quran melalui tafsir2 dalam mengungkap kandungan-kandungannya. Usaha penafsiran ini penting artinya bagi Muhammadiyah, baik dalam rangka memberikan tuntunan keagamaan kepada warganya maupun dalam rangka menjalankan misi dakwahnya secara keseluruhan dan sebagai kontribusi dalam pengembangan peradaban Indonesia dan pembinaan karakter bangsa.
